Results Are In: Choose to Change Empowers Many With a Criminal History to Find Job Opportunities

South Texas is facing an epidemic of massive proportions - yet few know it exists. Individuals with a history of incarceration often face incredible challenges when re-entering society.

They are often met with discrimination, lack of education and job opportunities, and social stigma. As a result, many struggle to find hope, healing, and opportunity. Add to this the fatherlessness that can often result from incarceration, and the problem only deepens.

To help turn the tide, Choose to Change stands in the gap to empower individuals with a history of incarceration to take back their lives and re-enter society as productive and contributing members.

Through job training, support, resources, and encouragement Choose to Change is helping people rebuild their lives and give back to the community. With the right resources and support, individuals from all walks of life can find hope, healing, and opportunity.

Connecting Needs to Opportunities

One area where Choose to Change is making a big impact is in connecting those with a criminal history to employment opportunities.

Recently, Choose to Change hosted a job fair in collaboration with Workforce Solutions, The Door Christian Fellowship, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The event was a resounding success with 100 job seekers in attendance, 29 employers, 150 job offers, and 298 job interviews.

Participants left the event feeling hopeful and empowered, with many exclaiming it was life-changing. Fabian of Workforce Solutions was thankful for Choose to Change, saying, "It's the right people and time."

"The whole committee is very committed. The event was super organized. Everybody took their role seriously."

With so many people and organizations coming together, the event was a powerful demonstration of what can be accomplished when we work together for the common good. And it's just one way that Choose to Change is making a difference in South Texas.
