Creating Second Chances Through Employment and Community Support

Across South Texas, many individuals with a criminal record are looking for an opportunity to rebuild their lives, provide for their families, and become productive members of their communities. But for many, finding steady employment can be one of the greatest challenges they face after incarceration.

Choose to Change Foundation believes that a person’s past should not be the end of their story. With the right support, encouragement, and opportunity, lives can be restored and families can be strengthened.

That is why Choose to Change hosted the Second Chance Job Fair in McAllen, Texas. This event was created to connect individuals with a criminal history to employers who were willing to look beyond the past and offer real opportunities for a better future.

For someone rebuilding their life, a job is more than a paycheck. Stable employment can help a person support their family, pay their bills, regain confidence, and take responsibility for their future. It can also help reduce the cycle of crime by giving individuals a practical path forward.

The Second Chance Job Fair brought together businesses, volunteers, and community partners who believe in restoration. Employers were given the opportunity to meet candidates face-to-face, and participants received support through resume help, interview coaching, and encouragement from people who wanted to see them succeed.

This work matters because when one life changes, the impact reaches further than one person. Families become stronger. Children gain hope. Communities become safer. And people who once felt overlooked are reminded that they still have value, purpose, and potential.

Choose to Change Foundation continues to stand in the gap for individuals and families affected by incarceration, addiction, and brokenness. Through faith, practical support, mentoring, and community partnerships, the foundation is helping people take steps toward lasting change.

But this mission cannot happen alone.

Every donor, volunteer, employer, church, and community partner plays a part in opening doors for people who are ready for a second chance. When we come together, we help create opportunities that can restore lives and strengthen entire communities.

Together, we can help people move beyond their past and step into a new future filled with hope, healing, and opportunity.
